Hi folks.
I probably should wait until I get home, but... Not really the superstitious
kind, just been around computers too long
First outing after major surgery (new headers, heads done).
Projects involved: Hitch, P&E towbar/safe-brake, Rance Fuel Injection,
Serpentine belts. Toad: Mazda Protege, standard shift.
It's my first time at towing so I don't have anything to compare it to.
Performance was good, going over the hills of I5 (3000'+) I was down to
30-35 instead of 40-45 in pre-tow days. Downhill was excellent as was an
occasional panic stop, i.e. the toad seemed to look after it's own braking
as was expected/hoped for.
Trip was only a 1000 miles so I don't have any idea on fuel usage that I'd
want to write down yet but I didn't make extra stops
Did some EFI tuning as we went but needs more tweeking to idle at various
temperatures without surges, etc. The good part... no stalls or
extraordinary scary visualizations of being stuck in traffic and blocking 3
intersections. Started each time I turned the key... what more does one
need?
I do need an alignment though, or at least a serious check. Tried to get in
line for one going through Grants Pass, but they were too busy to squeeze me
in.
Does anyone know of a good alignment place in California or perhaps Arizona?
I'm currently in Stockton so CA is preferred. Still trying to decide on
whether next stop is home or LA and Dallas. My definition of a good
alignment place? someone that can not only align all 6 but would
recognize/fix any problem encountered in reasonable timeframe.
So far so good....
