K&N makes a "snorkle" style air box for the Grand Cherokee V8 that uses a
cone filter element. I've often wondered if that could be made to work on
the GMC.

Check out the home made snorkle on this GMC with a 502 Vortec. It uses a K
& N filter up near the grill.

I heard no complaints. Only good things about performance and parts
availability.
