Hey Zak and the list:

I've just come across a vintage Offy 455 intake. This is a dual plane unit
with split ports. Never seen one like it, but should give great lower rpm
part=throttle performance gains due to higher port velocity with the
smaller ports (?)

Yeah, I know I'll have to raise the hatch cover if I decide to buy &
install the unit. Comment welcome!

As always, best regards.

Ritch,

I think the manifold Heinz used for his port fuel injection is one of
these. I believe (not sure though) that Offy still makes these intakes.
We were also considering that manifold (we were considering the same Rance
EFI setup that Heinz got). I don't really know much about the manifold
though. The manifold splits the two sides of the engine, but it does have
a small passover section to equalize them a little. It sounds like a good
way to get longer runners.

For what its worth, IIRC Mondello has always recommended the Edelborck
Performer intake. He is very tied in with Edelbrock now though, so there
may be some self advertisement there. We have been happy with our
Performer. If you do get a new intake, I would suggest changing the cam at
the same time since you can change the lifters with the intake off. It
will add quite a bit of work to your project, but the improvement should be
worth it.

Zak:

Thanks for the info, it is really appreciated. Yeah, considering a cam &
lifter kit as you mentioned should this project proceed, plus blocking off
the heat passages with some thin sheet metal stock (now if I can only find
a couple small pieces of thin stainless). Any recomendations on those
issues?Ritch,
