Intake Manifold and plastic fan questions

Does the plastic fan make it very difficult getting the belt over the fan due to the much smaller distance between blades? Has anybody used the Procomp air gap aluminum intake manifold sold by Mondello California? It is higher but I already need a doghouse. It is more than $160 less than the Eddlebrock which also got some bad reviews for fitment. The air gap Seems it would keep the electronics in the Fitech FI module much cooler. The evaporative cooling of the injectors probably does a lot of cooling now but that computer inside that hot engine compartment bothers me.

The computer on the Howell system is under the passengers seat. Not in the
engine compartment. Don't know where the Fi-tec CPU is located.

Hi Jon
I am using a FITech unit and have about 4500 miles on it now works great. I use an Edlebrock performer manifold with Dick Patterson block off plates
no heat problems.

The computer is mounted right on the throttle body. I already had an incidence of having to reboot the computer while out on the road. Although FiTech walked me through it, their support is great, they thought it was a grounding issue and recommended running a ground wire directly from TB to engine block, in the back of my head I think heat because it happened just as the temp dropped precipitously when I ran into a front and rain storm. Anyway has anyone used a manifold with an air gap.
Do you have to pull the plastic fan to change the belt?
Thank for the feedback John as I may still go your route.

The 'Air gap' manifolds [Edelbrock as far as I know] are generally geared more toward higher RPM performance use. They are also signifigantly higher
and will likely caude fitment problems with the hatch. For that matter, so will the performer series.
