Intake Gasket Recommendation

I ordered intake manifold gaskets and block off plates from Dick Paterson back during the week of April 12, prior to removing my intake manifold for
the preventive maintenance of installing block off plates.
I have since removed the intake and discovered that it already had Moroso stainless block off plates installed.

So I have been patiently waiting for the USPS to deliver my gaskets from Canada. Unfortunately, they were processed in Chicago on April 25, and not
seen since. Canada Post tracking says "Delayed".

Since I have the Moroso plates, and I want to get this thing put back together, what are the gaskets you would recommend? I don't want to chance
ordering from out of the country again. I have NAPA, Autozone, Advance Auto, and O'Reilly all down the street from me, plus Rock Auto, so I feel I can
get something quickly.

Thank you.

I would carefully remove the gaskets currently installed and measure their thickness (naturally they will be somewhat compressed). Once that's done
contact the various vendors and ask what thickness their gasket are.

Mr gasket 404
Are
The ones. Jim bounds uses those as well. But having installed those. And also dick paterson. The 404 work, but you really have to be careful
installing the intake. They are very close on the ports and if they move just a little, you could have problems.

Dick paterson gaskets just fit so much nicer and give you such a better feeling that you have them sitting well
In place.

Last time I used the 404 gaskets they were made by Mr gasket.

Thank you. I am looking for the Mr. Gasket ones now. Seems to be harder to find the ones for the 403.

The gasket between the intake manifold and the heads (turkey tray) on the 403 and 455 was aluminum with a raised crush seal, it was very thin. The
problem with the aftermarket gaskets is that they are much thicker and raise the intake manifold. it's not a problem on most engines, however, it can
be. I went through my folder on the INTAKE MANIFOLD and found this; Fel Pro gasket 1356 is 0.060" thick. I also found a note from Dick Patterson
noting that his gaskets are 0.027 to 0.030 thick. Mondello sells this gasket:

It is NOT 0.25 in. thick!

The mr gaskets are thicker then Dicks gaskets but I didn’t have a problem with them using the stock intake I got the last sett from summit.

I just ordered the Mr. Gasket 405G set for the 403. It does not come with the end seals, and it measures .060" thick. They were $27.00 plus shipping
from Summit Racing. Other sources did not have them in stock.

I measured the gaskets that were on the intake, and they measured .074" uncompressed and .057" compressed. They may have been .060" and swelled
somewhat with age and oil.

The Mondello stainless block off plates measured about .025". Mr. Paterson recommended that I soak the new gaskets in water to soften them and allow
the stainless plates to recess into the gasket material

somewhat.

What an excellent idea, soaking the gasket in water to let the plates recess into the gaskets. Thank you!
