So, How's this for replowing an old field>

Progressive just raised my premium from $346.76 to $932.76 per year. Any
recommendations appreciated.

Did they give you any reason why?

I have USAA and State Farm on various vehicles here with State Farm on the GMC. If you use USAA they will send you right back to Progressive for RV
coverage. Maybe with a better rate.
Right now I am very disillusioned with USAA over an accident on a Honda FIT. It took 3 months and 19 phone calls (only one was returned) before they
settled with me.

The problem with vehicle insurance it is controlled by the individual state and almost everyone is different. So you might ask for GMC owner
experience and rates from California owners.

Well I'm no help. I simply added my motorhome to the Allstate policy I have on the cars and house and have (stupidly) never shopped the price. I'm
likely wasting 15% or more on my car insurance!

In all seriousness, I'm paying for something that I really don't know will be there when I need it. I need to check...

I know it's not agreed value!

Ken: as you say it might be the state. I am not eligible for AAA insurance even tho Dad was in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge he never had AAA
insurance so I was not eligible. Cat was coming home from work a couple years ago, sitting at a red light at the bowling alley when she was rear
ended by a lady with AAA. After reports were made Cat and her Continental was basically unhurt other than scratches and a screw stuck in the rubber
bumper cover, Her Escort was totaled and pushed into the bowling alley parking lot. We had a settlement check from AAA before the Escort was moved
from the parking lot in 2 weeks.

Just a note to remind everybody that there is a big difference between AAA and USAA !

Originally, USAA (United States Automobile Association) was originally only available to US military officers. In fairly recent years, membership was opened to non-commissioned officers. Now membership is open to all veterans. USAA insurance is regularly at or near the top of Consumer Reports analysis and ratings.

AAA is American Automobile Association and membership is available to all.

I'm suffering along with Dean. Progressive raised my insurance from $548 last year to $720 this year (31%). I have $35k Actual Cash Value as part of
the policy. I have never made any claims on the policy. I called Progressive and the agent could not find any reason related to me for the increase.
She finally stated that it must a be general increase for California.

As far as USAA is concerned, I was able to get insurance as an NCO for my automobiles, but the rates were almost double what I was paying for
Allstate. USAA also has a poor reputation in Sonoma County where we've lost over 5000 homes to fire. They limited the coverage amounts homeowners
could purchase which turned out to be below replacement costs and most USAA insured homeowners were uinderinsured as a result and out-of-pocket to
replace their homes. So, as another GMCer commented, USAA is just an insurance company with a nod to military folks.

You guys ought to look at the of the pieces that make up that total. Is it Comp, collision, or liability. Sometimes just a change in zip code where
it is parked makes a big difference. Also annual miles below 6000 or 7500 helps.

State of California. My AAA road service company does not do RV's in
California. The refer all to Progressive. Whom we know just doubled my
rates. And I'm not a vet (too young for Korea and too old for Vietnam) so
don't qualify for USAA.

Other suggestions?

Someone a while ago as I remember it had a stated value policy where he
would call the insurance company and give them a block of time he would be
using the GMC and not pay very much for the time the GMC was parked.

I have an agreed value policy by Good Sam, underwritten by National General for $47,500 with $500,000 liability and $500 deductible. My premium last
year was $536.00, which I thought was reasonable. This year the premium jumped to $810.76! The agent I spoke with said that due to all of the fire
losses in California last year National General was increasing all California premiums due to increased risk. They must think that all of California
is going to burn. I have not researched other companies but it seems but it seems like most companies are following suit and substantially raising
premiums.
