Roger, et al,

After reviewing the insurance threads on this list, I called RV Alliance
for a quote. I had previously gotten coverage with my current auto ins.
carrier, because I travelled to Florida to check out my dream coach
without knowing if I would buy it or not, and I had to have a binder in
case I did buy it. Current cost through TIG Ins. is $750 annual. (Coach
came with a Golby appraisal of $25,000)

The application I received from RV Alliance had a "cost new" space
already filled in. ($33,362 for my 78 Royale). It includes a $500
towing coverage, $1000 Campers Personal Property, $25,000 campsite
Liability, Cash value for awnings, antennas or dishes, and $2500 for tow
dollies etc., (all of which coverage I did not have previously) Melissa
quoted me a price of $439 annual. I said "Annual as in once a year?",
and then, "Where do I sign?"

You can call RV Alliance at 800- 521-2942.

Best price: National Alliance (MVP Camping World) 800 727 8200, $158 for six
months along with three other vehicles. This is an ACV policy -- perhaps
stickey if you have a lot of upgrades and incur a total loss. For a stated
value policy and lots of other goodies like free road service RV Alliance is
the best. $382 for a $30K value one year premium. 800-598-9348 is their
number. RV Alliance quote is for motorhome only. This is my renewal choice.

Herm:
I have my renewal policy (effective 2/10/99) which lists (among other
vehicles), "1977 GMC Kingsley" at a premium of $158 for 6 months.

As Arch would say, "that is what I know".

You will get all kinds of input on this topic but I have been with
Alexander & Alexander for 24 years and they beat all quotes but more
importantly they will insure your coach for appraised value, not the
dealer book value which is pitifully inadequate.

I think they are now Aon something or other now but you can find their ad
in FMCA magazine.

They would be glad to insure them BUT for book value only. Dont go there.
Mine is insured for $43k for under $400 per year and I live in high rate
Palm Beach County. RV Alliance also gives great service.

Dave,
Think I know all I need to know about the insurance now. Still plan to
aggravate my current company anyhow. RV Alliance or bust.

Roger

Yep MVP insures my 1973 for $25k -- Plus i can take off the liability
portion and save if I am going to be in storage for more than a month
- -- and still maintain
comprehensive -- then re-instate the full policy when i am ready to
travel --

Unless MVP has changed within the last two months, I think that you will
find that the value you claim, $25K, would have to be proven TO THE
SATISFACTION OF MVP in case you had a complete loss. MVP does not write a
"stated value" policy; such a policy pays off without argument.
