Just bought a set of front windows from Applied GMC. Where can I find the information on installing these things?

Richard,
If you're planning to install them yourself, DON’T! It take 2 people one on the inside and one on the outside to put them in. They need to be experienced in auto glass installation. I had mine replaced at the GMCMI convention in Elkhart a year ago. This was a team of actually 3 guys and they did 15 plus sets over a 2 day period. You should call Jim and get his recommendation on a qualified installer in your area.

Did you request instruction from us?
We assume you are going to have a glass shop install them.
If you would have requested, we have instruction from the Maintenance
book.
I would thinkif you requested the intruction, Nick, Gary or Grace would
have done it or requested me to do it.

Does not require 2 people to install the windshields just makes it easier. A competent installer can do it on their own I have seen it done here in
Australia.

Rich, that's the correct way. Pay for experience because breaking one is expensive.

Installing windshield glass with insufficient assistance is a receipe for
disaster. One tiny tool chip on the edge of the glass will lead to
problems. Really strong suction cups, and really strong forearms are an
absolute must. Plus, if they break it, they bought it. Additionally, most
glass shops have access to new windshield rubber mouldings and know a few
"tricks of the trade" when it comes to setting those big glass panels in
place. They have a fresh supply of butyl sealants and heaters to activate
them. I have outsourced glass installs for years. State Street Auto Glass
in Salem has done good work for me in the past, although the owner has
retired, and one of his lead installers is a service writer for a local
auto dealer. I do not have any personal experience with their replacements.

Jim,

Re, "Plus, if they break it, they bought it."

I'd be surprised if a windshield installer would take responsibility for breaking a windshield they didn't supply at $729 each.

Typically when it comes to fixed glass removal and installation if the
glass is broken upon removal the owner absorbs the glass cost. If the
installer breaks the glass upon installation then that typically falls on
the installer. These points MUST be agreed upon by all parties in advance.

With used glass, previously installed, vehicle owner owns the liability.

NORMALLY, new glass, still in original packaging, installer owns it, BUT,
like Todd says, each deal is different, and varies from shop to shop.
