Yes. It's a detail. But I do it in all engines. I'll buy 12 to make a set. Then keep the extras for the next install. Makes for a smother. More efficient combustion chamber flame front. It's another small part. Of the reason that you can wipe the inside of my 403 tail pipe with a tissue. And the tissue will remain white.

Defintely a requirement when running domed pistons. Never seen any difference with flat tops.
But it certainly cant hurt!
