GMCnetters;
Paul Bartz had told me, "You'll be amazed at the sight of so many GMC's
in one place." Many of us are thrilled to see a single GMC on the road.
I had become used to checking out 6 or 8 at Buskirk-Rush RV while
waiting for Max and crew to service my coach. (Plus another 6-8 a block
away at Cinnabar.) But I have to tell you, when we crested that hill at
Marion, the vision of some 400 GMC MOtorhomes stopped us dead in our
tracks! Patrick captured this nicely in his panoramic photo on his
website. What a thrill for a newbie like myself!
The seminars fascinated me. Patrick, I hope you can persuade Duane
Simmons to allow you to reprint his handout, "What Every GMCer Should
Know" on your website. The information therein would be extremely
beneficial to new coach owners and wannabe's alike. I understand how it
would be "old hat" to experienced GMCer's, but I did hear one long time
owner say that he always picks up something that he didn't know before.
Of course, the same guy also said that he owned his GMC for 10 years
before he attended a Rally and discovered all the things that he should
be afraid of!
We concluded as we left the Rally, that GMC owners are among the nicest
people on the planet. Everyone was eager to share knowledge gained
through experience, or simply helpful hints picked up along the way. I
strongly encourage all GMCer's to attend the Rally in Myrtle Beach next
March, you'll be very glad you did!
By the way, one of my favorite GMC's at the Marion Rally didn't have
the greatest paint job, or square headlights, or a stretch job like
Clarence Buskirk's. It was the nickname that got me, painted above the
"Eleganza II" logo on each side of the coach. It said, "Hemorrhoid".
And you thought your coach was a pain in the behind!
