First off: Thank you Tom for bringing ICQ to our attention. I for one did
not know the tool existed and just like any other tools (power brake
bleeders) it will have a dedicated space on the shelf, or rather desktop,
for use when it's use is appropriate.

That said, it seemed like panic went through the 'net' as some made the
assumption that ICQ would be replacement and voiced their opinions on the
subject. which of course was the proper thing to do. I'm affeared [g]
though, that many folks that read this list in silence may have also paniced
in silence.

GMCnet will not and cannot dissapear any more than our GMC Coach will or can
dissapear. Even if ( heaven forbid ) Patrick wants to pass the baton
perhaps at the GMC's 50th anniversary ) it would be exactly that... a
passing of the baton. Patrick has created what is a medium of communication,
togetherness and sharing that will last until the very last GMC settles on
it's leaky airbags or the 2x4 installed to replace the leaky airbag.

That is not to say that we can't enhance the communications, togetherness
and sharing with other tools available today and in the future, just as we
do with/to our beloved GMCs. Remember, it won't be too long and realtime
video will get into the picture... now that's a scary thought.

Anyways, sorry to be rambling but I felt that 2 points had to be made.
They are: 1) GMCnet is here to stay (forever and then some) and 2) I wanted
to be sure that no-one will be discouraged to suggest new tools as they
become aware of them... just as if they were for the good ol' GMC directly.

Enough said... Happy Holidays to all.

I forgot to tell everyone before they went into a panic that ICO saves the
entire conversation including names of who spoke, and that could be posted
to patricks site. ICQ is just another arrow in our arsenal. sometimes you
can only solve a problem by talking about it. It can be very frustrating to
go on day after day, trying to home in on the exact problem and solution.
sometimes only a few minutes of questions and answers among several people
can solve the problem better.
