Going through my first GMC and trying to learn
as much about her as I can before the wrenches come
out. Have a push-button switch on the dash which
is labeled "ICC". Any ideas what it might be? I think
that I can hear a fan come on as long as it remains pushed.
Might evacuate fumes from the engine compartment prior
to starting?

Just a WA guess but put your lights on and have someone stand behind
the GMC when you push the button. See if the top marker (clearance)
lights blink out when the button is pushed. The truckers often have
a button like this to flash their lights to thank someone for
signaling when it is ok to cut back into the right lane when passing.
The ICC might stand for Interstate Commerce Commission.

Probably stands for "Intermittent Courtesy Circuit" if lights
flash when depressed. That's the definition a southern
California SOB manufacturer uses in the instrument panel
callouts in the owner's manual.

Found the mechanic that did the mods and he put the
circuit on as a clearance light flasher. The "ICC"
is "Intermittent Courtesy Circuit". The motor that
was running was the washer pump...someone dinked
with the wires.
Thanks for the collective help.

>Hey I have a switch that I do not know what it does--yet. It says in---out.

Surely you would have noticed an electric step by now as much as you've
worked on the coach but that's what seemed likely to me. Maybe someone
scavenged it before you got there?

Glad to hear all your hard work has paid off -- hope you're having a ball!

Arch - how about a clue? I'm not a mind reader but I just got lucky
on the clearance light guess. Does anything at all happen when the
light comes on? Could it be an electric radio antenna, retracting
TV antenna, an electric step, electric jacks (although up/down makes
more sense), switch pitch transmission, reversing roof vent fan ???
The small wire either went to a relay for something that required
heavier current or else it was just an indicator light warning that
something was extended out.

Maybe whatever it controlled/indicated was taken off by someone
before you bought the coach but they just didn't remove the switch.

Are you still on the road? Hope you are having (or had) a great trip.

ARCH - another thought. Maybe its just there to give you something
to play with while driving down the long road so that you don't get
bored!

Arch,

Could this button and light be a JESUS button? You know; when it comes on
you say "JESUS!!!!!!"
