For the wax to work you just heat the metal enough so that the wax wicks into the parts to be disassembled.
Vaiper is not the goal.

I kept putting wax on it as it cooled down. When it cooled down enough to allow liquid wax I added more. It was covered in wax that finally
solidified. I waited for 24 hours before trying to disassemble the fitting. That is not saying that it would not work in other cases.
The only difference here is I started with it being much hotter than it needed to be to melt the wax.
