I am new to this board, so forgive me if this is ground covered already. My
question is about the various "improved" hubs I see for the GMC. Some years
ago I had a bad experience with my coach. As I crested a hill just outside
Belfast Maine at about 50 MPH, my left front wheel collapsed. In taking it
apart the mechanic from a local Olds dealer said it looked like the bearing
had seized and caused the axle to break!

I had done what I thought was a good check for bearings, at least it was
good enough for my cars. there was no noise or play in the wheel, and I
mistakenly thought all was well. Any way, since then I have been far more
vigilant at bearing maintenance.

That said, I do see there are "improved" presumably stronger bearing sets
and hubs on the market. Can anyone share their thoughts on this subject. Are
these a worthy improvement? Worth the expense?

Any input is sincerely appreciated. Tony

If you have not got a bearing puller for the GMC than buy one so your
bearings can be properly serviced. Remember you cannot even replace or work
on your brake rotors without removing your bearings first.

Than grease them with Mobil 1 or a similar synthetic grease and you will
have no further trouble, that is presuming that you have good hubs, knuckles
and the proper bearings. Dont waste your time with aftermarket hubs etc.
Get a copy of Cinnabars June 1996 issue and it will tell you step by step
how to do it correctly.

I have a few bearing pullers left on this run available for $200 complete
with shipping that are better than anything on the market(of course thats my
opinion as Arch would say).

Go to http://www.web-access.net/~bmassey/twarner.html to see it and how it
is used. If you want one send my your name and address and a check to:
