Franz,
I have installed a couple of nice little self contained units on my
go-karts. These are made by SenDEC Corp., 2650 Baird Road. Fairport, NY
14450 (unit not shown on their website). I get them from Carl Anderson
Industrial (engine) Supply here in Omaha. Should be available almost
anywhere small engines are repaired if you ask for them.

They are about 1"x2" by about 1/2" thick with an LCD readout. Does hour
meter, job meter, tachometer and service alarms and a few other things (like
max RPM). Has a small wire you wrap on around the sparkplug wire as a
pickup. The wire is free standing and attached to the unit through a loop so
I would imagine you could go a quite a ways w/o loss of signal (IE should
reach to your stock meter). I though about mounting this one to my Onan so I
can see it when I open my compartment cover.

I have two on my karts and they have endured below zero and above 100
degrees and still keep working. Haven't even replaced the batteries yet (2
years). I even though of using one for my 455 as a small tach. Anyways they
are $40 and if you need Carl Anderson's number it is (402) 558-8700. I just
got two more last month. These are slick little units and work on darn near
anything with a spark plug in it from a mower to a motor home. HTH

I don't have an hour meter and wonder if there is anything posted anywhere
on
getting one and the hookup procedure? TIA.
