Hot water pre-heater

With some warmer weather, I've spent some time under the newly purchased
26', 1974 Glacier and noticed something that has me stumped. Based on
what I've read in the owner's manual, a hot-water pre-heater was
available. This system, from what I can tell since the manual seems to
be short on specific information, basically runs coolant from the engine
through a heat exchanger located close to the water heater. This means
that the electric heater doesn't have as much work to do to provide hot
water. When looking at the top of the engine toward the front, I notice
some extra coolant lines coming back along the passenger side of the
engine and running down behind the driver's side. Those two heaterhoses
run under the bottom left side of the coach and come up through the
floor just in front of the left side wheels, into the cabinet below the
sink. Both hoses on mine are hooked together with a pipe nipple and a
couple of electical wires and dangling down in the same area. Is it
possible there was a second electric water heater and heat exchanger in
this area at one time.

Underneath the right side of the coach, there are not heater hoses
running down from the right side of the engine that I can see but just
behind the right front wheel well, there are two heater hoses which have
been cut off coming from the rear. Didn't follow them back yet but I
assume they go to the heat exchanger located by the water heater which I
believe is in the cabinet under the bathroom sink. Didn't look for that
yet but that seems to be what the shop manual describes.

Any thoughts on this situation by and of the experts out there. I'm just
trying to spend some time learning about the new "toy" and making good
progress except for a couple of things. Thanks for any help that can be
provided. Happy motoring. Photos of the coach are at:
