from the Dixielanders:
Please hold Cathy Boyd in your prayers after the passing of Chuck Boyd, her husband of over 40 years.

Charles "Chuck" Dalphine Boyd, aged 77, and life long resident of East Tennessee, passed away December 30, 2025. Chuck had a rich life of experiences sthat include a variety of careers including accounting, hairdressing/make-up artistry, and ownership at a trucking business. He was an avid TN Vol fan and had a lifelong love of motorcycles.

He leaves behind a loving wife of 41 years, Catherine Boyd, his sister Nikki Staley, 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren in Tennessee and Georgia.

Chuck Boyd Working Hard

Chuck Boyd, December 7, 1948 – December 30, 2025

Charles "Chuck" Dalphine Boyd, long-time Dixielander and two-term President passed away December 30, 2025 in Knoxville, TN, at the age of 77.

A lifelong resident of East Tennessee and an avid Vols fan, Chuck had a love of motorcycles and also a passion for GMC motorhomes. Dixielanders recall him diving in and getting dirty helping others maintain the road worthiness of their coaches. If Chuck worked on your GMC, you knew you were in good shape, but he could do more than turn a wrench. He also served as Dixielanders president in 2011 and 2012.

Chuck leaves behind a loving wife of 41 years, Catherine (Cathy) Boyd, his sister Nikki Staley, 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren

Chuck was simply amazing. He had more careers over the years than 3 people, and had _wide_ ranging knowledge and experience that he generously shared with others.

Chuck lost an entire leg in a motorcycle accident something like 40 years ago - guy ran a stop sign and T-boned Chuck. Missing the leg and being in constant pain didn't come close to stopping him. He loaded his own tractor trailers while he was an owner operator, would flip the artificial leg over his shoulder to get in under a GMC steering wheel when working on the column.

He was also one of the most polite people on the Internet, and also in person. His forum replies always started with "Sir," and in depth knowledge and wisdom followed.

I've made many lifelong friends through the GMC, and for some it was all too short. This one hurts.

Thank you for posting this notice.

GMC rallies were always more enjoyable with Chuck in attendance. He was a just true gentleman, positive, friendly, and always helpful. Condolences to Cat. May he rest in peace.DSC04714.webp

I didn't know Chuck, but have heard so many lovely comments. I'm working on the next issue of the GMCMI Magazine, TZE Chronicles, and would like to include a tribute to him. I'll need help to create that, so if you have any photos, memories, quotes, or information that would help make a fitting memory article, please contact me at editor@gmcmi.com.
Thanks so much,
