Where is your pump mounted? I don't think these pumps are designed to lift
fuel. Most of them need to be at or below the fuel level to work properly.
They will lift better when primed but due to the flat design of the GMC
fuel tanks the fuel sock can easily pick up air and cause the pump to loose
its prime.
Something else to check is to be sure that your tanks are vented properly.
Even a small amount of vacuum in the tanks will make it harder for the pump
to recover after sucking air.
