I have holes in my roof. What I mean is that I have big openings from
various vents that I would like to seal up. I am revising the layout inside
the coach and I need to move bathroom, black water and other vents. I would
very much like to hear suggestions on how to do this. One hole is about 4 x
12 inches. The others are smaller. Also, what gauge or standard of aluminum
should be used?

Vic,
I covered a refriigerator vent hole about the size you mentioned with a piece
of 16 (or thinner) stainless steel cut larger than the hole and held down with
stainless steel pop rivets. I cut a piece of 1/16 inch neoprene rubber the
same size as the patch to use as a gasket under the patch. The patch has been
leak free for close to 5 years now. But if I had to do it again I would epoxy a
metal patch on the inside of roof to cover the hole and to support body filler
on the top whcih could be finished to match the roof color and line. The
stainless patch is pretty and shinny but probably won't hold paint well when I
finally get around to the body work part of my restoration project. Of course
to do the inside patch the ceiling headliner and insulation has to come off
first. As Arch would say, "that's what I did."
