I am going to install a new oil pump. There is a choice of regular or
high
volume. Which is better?
Regular. There must be some advice in one of Mondello's manuals on
blueprinting the pump. High volume pumps put even more oil in the valve
covers, which means less in the pan for those long 2nd gear grades & on
ramps. You can also install a stronger bypass spring which will
sometimes raise pressure. The high volume pumps place an additional
parasitic loss on the engine too.
