High speed blower

Could someone post the PN for the high speed blower relay. Does the high
speed have a separate fuse or is it usually the relay when you lose high
only? TIA

I realize now what I was doing wrong. Tried to click on the spinning
arrow and type in blower motor instead of going to the top op the page
for the search. Must of had too many Lagers :)

did you resolve your problem ?? I would guess the resistance wire ??
Mine was a corroded connection, I replace the relay connector with a crimp
on connector.

Got the high speed blower working but I still have a problem. It turned
out to be the short in line 30 amp fuse on the red wire. My problem is
after changing the fuse the high speed worked fine and I had the it
running for quite some time while I worked on a vent actuator vacuum
problem.I lost the high speed again and this time it melted the in line
fuse holder
I installed a new 30amp fuse holder that came with #10 wire. What is
happening is that the high speed is working but the new fuse holder in
getting VERY HOT yet the wires going to it don't seem that hot and if I
touch the end of the blower motor it doesn't seem to be abnormally hot.
Don't know where to turn from here. Is it possible that the motor is on
its way out and drawing too much amperage even though it is running
strong ?? Why is the (Heavy Duty) fuse holder getting so VERY HOT and
the wires going to it seem normal??

Dick - I have seen something like this happen before with fuse
holders. You are probably not getting good contact with the fuse.
The contacts are spring loaded on one side. It might be getting hung
up in the holder so that weak contact is being made. This can cause
overheating of the contacts and it will just keep getting hotter and
hotter until something melts. I have also seen contacts in these
type of fuse holders that are rounded but have had a wire soldered
into the contact that is protruding toward the fuse so that all of
the contact is on the very small surface end of the wire. This leads
to a hot spot.

I'd examine the fuse holder very carefully. If there is not a good
contact area on each end of the fuse, you might try taking a
soldering gun and heating a bead of solder on each end wire so that
you have a well rounded solder blob on the end. This might solve the
problem.

Actually, what I would do, and which is perhaps an even better way to
solve it would be to cut out and throw away the existing in-line type
fuse holder and go to a fuse holder that takes a "blade" type fuse.
This is the plastic fuse with two spade terminals at the bottom.
They push into a clip in the fuse holder and then they usually have a
cover that snaps over the fuse to protect it from the elements. You
usually have a much better connection with these.

Another thing you could do would be to get a 30 amp circuit breaker.
These either have two spade lugs or they have two screws and nuts to
fasten wires to them. They will automatically reset after they cool
following an overload.

I will take your advice and go with the blade type fuse or the 30amp
breaker. I saw them both when I went for the (Heavy Duty) buss style
fuse holder this afternoon. I can't believe how hot that thing got and I
do remember a little ball of solder falling out of the OEM fuse holder
when I first changed the fuse.

Maybe try a slow blow fuse. It handles the higher amperage for a greater
amount of time during startup of the fan. Darren

A friend of mine had the same symptoms as you and we were convinced it
was in the switch. Turned out to be the motor. BTW he was told by Jim B
that the switch was no longer available but was an easy fix if you take
it apart.Good Luck.

I use the 30 amp breaker and it works well. I also connected the input to=20
the breaker to the center post (alternator) of my battery idolater. This=20
gives the blower motor an extra 1.5 volts or so when its running on high.=20
Results in a noticeable improvement in airflow.

Thanks for the reply. Now if I could just get my passenger side blower
vent to open I would be a happy man.(and my co-pilot would be very happy
)
