My problem is more complicated by the fact that I have a gentlemen arriving
tomorrow from FL to look at the coach. I feel like crap showing the coach
with the generator not putting out.

I took her out for a spin this afternoon, got gas, propane to get everything
functioning the way it is supposed too. Everything is fine but the ONAN just
will not put out any juice. It worked fine earlier this week. The only thing
that I have done was to have the ONAN tuned up today.

If the prospective buyer likes the coach, what is a reasonable financial
settlement on an ONAN that won't put out? Anyone else run into thin kind of
problem?

What a revoltin' development.

Subject: GMC: HELP - ONAN Question, no 110vac in coach.

I had a guy come by the house today and tune the ONAN. She starts good and
runs well. When I tested the AC in the coach I found that I had none!

I have checked the breakers in the coach.

The AC will not start and there is no power to the AC outlets.

Could something else have tripped that I do not know about? Any suggestions
as to where to check or what might be wrong.

Regards,

TW

Tom,
My Onan isnt putting out 110 either. But It does
generate 12 volts, I think....I need to get a diffrent
meter to check it. Anyway...My guess is that the Bridge
rectifier needs replaced. About a $10.00 part. The
onan needs to be removed to replace it! BUMMER!
I hope thats all thats wrong with mine. Good Luck.

Tom,
Sit down take a deep breath! Now call the guy (at home) that did your tune-up.
Have him walk you through everything electrical , breakers, etc. I f you can't
get him, I would start by throwing all breakers one by one. Hope this helps.

DODO!

Tom
Someone has already suggested you check the rectifier. In the event that
some
mechanical work has been done on the generator, you may have a problem
similar
to one that developed when I had the bearings replaced. When all else
failed
we called Onan and they said in effect that it gets 'insulted' (my words,
not
theirs) and you need to jump the Thyactor (sp) with 12 volts. It is a box
located between the engine and the generator. Jump F 1+ to F2- and hit for
a
few seconds with 12 volts, then Jump F 2+ to F f - and hit with 12 volts for
a
few seconds. I'm definitely not up on electrical engineering, but this
reactivates something. It worked and the Onan puts out more now than ever.

Uere is my stupid thought for the day, My onan has a switch in it that turns off
the output when it is running, pull out the drawer and look on the side facing
rear.

Stephen...

I just sent Tom an email message just before I got yours, with the same
suggestion as you did... I think several of us have been there and done
that...

Come on Tom, tell us...

As Paul Harvey says, So what's the rest of the story, Tom? Did it ever
produce 110 and the DODO turn to ice creme? It would help some of the
rest of us when the same thing happens to us.
