When I got home this evening, there was a message from my mechanic who's
installing my "Cinnabar Select" wheel bearings (using the "Warner" tools)
and a fresh set of carbon metalic brake pads. He says he noticed that one
of the cv boots has a tear in it and the other doesn't look like it will be
far behind. Ok, so while he's in there I'll have him inspect and repack the
cv joints and replace the boots. Here's where I need some help.
As I recall, a key factor is using the right bands so that they will stay
sealed, and there was discussion as to whether "super boots" were really
that super. I've looked thru my clips from past GMCnet discussions and gone
to Gene's and Bdub's sites, amongst others, but can't find the recommended
part numbers for the boots and bands. I remember this subject being
discussed last year, but appearently didn't clip the salient points and
don't have time to search the archives tonight and need to call him in the
morning with "marching orders".
Could someone please provide me with the correct part numbers and sources.
I'd be VERY appreciative.
Suggest you respond on this forum so others will know I've gotten my
answers, but also direct so I don't have to wait for the next digest.
Many thanks,
