Hi Douglas,

Actually, this list is for the discussion of the front-wheel-drive
motorhomes that GMC manufactured from 1973 to 1978, but that doesn't
mean that you aren't welcome. Unfortunately, it does reduce the
probability that anyone here has the answer to your question. If you
have access to the newsgroups(usenet) you might try asking your question
on alt.rv or rec.outdoors.rv-travel, but be forewarned, politeness is
not a hallmark of those forums. If you don't have direct access to
usenet, try going to www.dejanews.com. There is a web page interface
with usenet there.

Of course, it is possible that one of the GMCers here will have your
answer. They're very resourceful!

Welcome!
Patrick

Bad way to introduce myself. :) My wife and I own a 28 ft, 1978 Midas
Motorhome on a GMC chassis. Hope I'm in the right place. Bet you
haven't heard a story like this in a while.

We were coming back from Myrtle Beach in July, when we hit a deer.
Did some pretty good damage to the front end. I ahve patched up the
front end, but if there is anywhere I can get parts, (grille, etc.) it
would be great. But that's not the good part.

This weekend we were on the PA turnpike. A piece of metal on the road
blew out my left inner duel tire. By the most ironic stretch of fate
I have ever seen, the metal rod grabbed one of the wiring harness on
the left side, and literally ripped every wire out of the harness mold
and wrapped it around the dual wheel. This ahrness has about 50
wires, and among other things, I now have no rear light of any kind.
The very worst part, however, is that the harness comes inside and
leads up to the monitor panel over the stove. The one that shows
battery condition, propane tank, holding tank, and anything else you
can think of. Plus I have no 12 volt lights inside the coach.

The panel was nearly torn off the wall. In short, I need a wiring
schematic for the coach. No repair facility will touch this job, even
though it is covered by my insurance, without a manual. Although I
manage my own Oldsmobile service department, it would take me months,
or years, to trace and replace all of these wires, and the coach is
basically useless without lights, or who knows what else that is not
working.

Can anyone help, or direct me toward a site that might still have the
books, and at thsi point, for the book, money is not the object.

I have already been to gmcmotorhome.com, which is where I discoverd
your mailinglist. Hopefully I can be a contributor to the list, and
not just a leech. :)

Thank you.

I will check with my contacts about your wiring problem. I am not familiar with the Midas motorhome but i have a few friends with them. It will take me a few days, I will let you know what I come up with.

Thanks for the information. I may stay on the list to see if there is
anything I can use, or contribute to. I do have newsgroup access, I'll try
those two you mentioned.

Thanks again.

Doug

Thank you very much. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Not thinking straight, I got the year of the coach wrong. It is actually a
1982 Midas. Sorry for the mistake.
