I mentioned awhile back that I had bought a 75 Toro HEI distributor from
Autozone and had Alex Sirum install it when he rebuilt my 455. From the info
here and on the linked site records I now know that I need to change the
Vacuum Advance from the 604-14 model on there to a 1973577 and test it out
to see if that results in the right curve or whether I may have to change
some of rthe springs as well.
On reading over the Duane Simmons and Bob Lamey GMC Ignition booklet 1998
edition Western States as well as the GMC parts book I see that there have
been many different distributors and different mechanical advance specs
used. I have settled on the one labelled Custom 1 with the following
mechanical advance specs.

My questions are:
Is there a better choice???? Why???
Does anyone know the correct colour of the springs in the Summit kit that
will produce the Custom 1 mechanical advance settings. I would just as soon
not reinvent the wheel here. Someone must have been there before.
Thanks for your help.
