I put these on several years ago. Almost all of my original ('77) latches
had come apart. The new latches are very good quality.
Unless Hehr has changed the design, you will get two parts, on for the
stationary and one for the sliding window. You will find that the sliding
part/handle is what you seek to replace, and that the 'tongue' won't fit in
the 'groove' of the old latch.
Of course, you can change both halves, and I'm sure that's the approved GMC
way. You will also find this to be an interesting challenge as the screws
don't come out very easy.
I chose to take a Stanley knife and trim back the 'tongue' on the new
handles just a little bit on the sides, and you only have to change half of
the latch.
Just thought I'd pass this tip along. If you're working piece rate, you've
just doubled your pay!
The new latches are great, and you'll like them. They actually hold the
windows closed. I didn't do the door or kitchen windows (you may have to
take the glass all the way out to do them) but all the others were pretty
easy.
