Any other ideas on how to disable the heater fan so that it only runs
when I want it to . I find the fan and its draft to be an irritant. When
I want fan (air blowing ) I'll ask for it. My wife complains of chills
when the darn thing is going all the time. And then there are the drafts
from the vents. Oh well, I guess we'll just wrap up in fur coats.

cheers,

J.Ross

IF I were going to modify our rig, I would:

There are two wires going to the fan motor, one is the ground and
one is the 12v feed, find a place to mount a toggle switch on the dash
, the switch MUST be rated atleast 20-25 amps, (I,ve measured current levels
of 15 amps on the blower motor during cold weather startup, but the
circuit on the 76 GMC is fused for 25 AMPS)
Wire the switch into the HOT line, use connection wire of atleast one
grade higher than what is used, to allow for current loss.
Use 12Ga wire, I would cut the 14ga Purple wire leading to the hot,
where it joins the black filter cap wire, and put the switch in series .
This will allow a person to turn the blower off if so desired.

I will go along with John's suggestion, as I did just that when my
blower stopped while on a trip and I didn't have time to track down the
problem. (My problem was the purple wires' conection to the relay) Make
sure your components are rated as John suggests.

I also second John's disclaimer statement......
