Any body ever consider scrapping the heater / A/C control panel and
substituting a series of vacuum switches? There could be one each for Hot
water; on & off; Heat or A/C; Fresh air or Recirc. air; Defroster, on or
off; and Output, dash or floor. Add to those a rotary fan speed switch and
we'd have a system we could tailor to our individual needs. Drawback: would
have to learn which combination of switches to switch to get the desired
result. Should be reliable and much more serviceable.
