One more thing to consider, IIRC: Protein foam is rarely used any longer,
the shelf life is one year or perhaps two,
Most fire depts now used AFFF foam. it has an unlimited shelf life and
can be used with most liquid fires. There are some depts stock an alcohol
based foam for "special" hazard locations.
I know we no longer use protein foam and have,nt for the 20+ years that
I have been a firefighter.
