Well, I am still using the factory shift cable. Now 41 years old. Of course, other than the first 5 years in Michigan it was in California for 10 years and Santa Fe for 20 years and then
Colorado for 6 years now. Those last 36 years were relatively low humidity and that may be the reason that it has lasted.
