That's about the size of it. The 2 strokes would just about pull the same
up to their Rev limit, and when they shifted the Hondas would come up on
the cams and it was,"Bye, Bye." Not even close.

IIRC those things were so fast that the other bikes were just racing for
second place!

Heard those "Mike the Bike" Hailwood 6 cylinder bikes. Nothing else even
comes close to that sound. 12 cylinder Ferrari, Porsche 917, Allison
aircraft, Rolls Royce merlin.
Those 6's come on the cams at 17,500 rpms, and red line around 23,000. More
of a shriek than a mechanical sound. Runs chills up your spine, or at least
mine.

Old?? Old's ass - I still haven;t decided what I'm going to be if I grow
up. Good sounds? Hailwood lapping Talladega on the 6 cylinder 250CC Honda
grand prix bike - sounded like cloth ripping. A rpund motor on an airplane
making power. My ratrod turning up ~~ 5500 or so through the 3 inch
'smittys'. None of which find your resonance problem.
