I'd suggest that the frig is low on R-12. A low charge will not allow the
refrigerant to continue to expand and remove heat on the 'cold plate' in the
refrigerator compartment.

There is enough of a charge for the freezer to seem to operate, but not
enough to continue in the evaporator coils into the lower compartment.

Just a suggestion for what it's worth. The real problem comes now, as R-12
is no longer available. (Unless you find an old timer). I'm also not sure if
you can use the 'newer' R-12 replacements in this unit. Perhaps someone else
can address that.

By the way, if your unit has two compressors instead of one, it's most
likely the electronic frequency conversion unit or the lower thermostat
rather than anything on the 'gas' side of the frig.

Just some thoughts.

I did the same thing with an old 1970 vintage RV refrigerator. I turned it
upside down for a week without plugging it in, and it's still working today
for the people who bought the motorhome from me. It's sure a cheap fix if it
works for you............Jim Davis-----Original Message-----

Let me get this straight too ... The Norcold guy wants to sell you a new
refrigerator...right? Sounds like I'd be burping that baby, for all its worth.
