I guess you'all can forget my earlier questions about my '76 GMC Eleganza
II. We picked it up on Friday and I had it serviced on Saturday AM. I drove
it from the BP station to my Mom's home where my Mom is dying (died) from
cancer.
I left her home in the GMC about 10 PM tonight to go my home and let the dog
out of the house and bring another vehicle back. As I rounded a curve about
1/8 mile from my driveway, I found the road to be full of horses - 4 or 5.
I hit at least one. The drivers side of the GMC is gone below the dash. The
steering broken, bumper bent, possibly bent frame, fiberglass everywhere,
both windshields out, etc, etc. The HP said totaled. The horse is in the
hospital and he may be totaled.
Now I guess I may have to fight with the insurance company.
I think that, if I had been driving my Dodge Van, I might have been a dead
duck.
The accident happened at 10:10 PM and my Mom passed away at 10:45. I was not
able to be there when she passed away because I was tied up with the HP.
I appreciate all of the help and information that I have received from the
folks on this list but now I really need some good fast advice.
1. Should I try to have it fixed? Can it be fixed? Are body parts available?
2. Now do I explain to the insurance adjuster why I want a GMC Motorhome and
not some other brand of similar year and condition?
3. Where do I find information to demonstrate how the GMC is unlike others
because of the popularity and following?
4. I need some general advice and how to proceed.
5. HELP!
