GVWR & GMC

I noticed this remark in one of the E-Mails

In my limited experience with an SOB (Winnebago), going over the gvwr is not
a good thing to do. I just noticed a very clean GMC for sale with a redone
interior that includes a lot of wood cabinetry. My first thought was
carrying capacity.
Does anyone know the gvwr of the GMC and what are typical carrying
capacities? Motorhome mag. is using "wet weight" (fuel, propane and fresh
water tanks full) subtracted from the gvw to calculate a carrying capacity.
Do people really operate their coaches over the gvw? I assume if they do
it's the suspension that is limiting and not the tires.

Any info would be appreciated as I search for the "perfect" GMC

Regarding weight: I went out to my coach and picked up the owner's manual and
on page 1, it says that GVWR is 11,700. Front axle GVWR is 4,200 and rear GVWR
is 7,500. it goes on to break this down as follows:

Front curb 3,680 front cargo & pass 520 total 4,200
rear curb 5,820 rear cargo & pass 1,680 total 7,500

It may be that with Alcoa wheels and steel belted radials you might be able to
actually exceed these numbers, but you also have wheel bearings and other
components that are not designed to handle the extra weight on a regular basis.
Weigh the coach
