OK, got my lower rock guard in last night. Now want to put something behind the
big grill. When I tried to remove the nuts, the bolt turned with it.
I can grab the bolt but will probably end up ruining the threads. Can you
replace the bolts that are part of the grill once you get the grill off?
How have others attached a rock screen behind the grill?

I used plastic egg crate florescent light panels. (see my web page) Not too
good for big mother rocks, but looks almost as good as the Dodge pickups.
It mounts on the 4 bolts that hold the grill on each side. No drilling

Eric,

The studs are inserts molded into the OEM grill. My were rusted so bad
I had to grind the nuts off with a Dremel tool, but found out that, once
they get hot, they will pull right out of the plastic. I then modified
my grille as Emery described to be held in place with springs.

That's what I did...

The rock guard behind my grill is nothing more than black household
screening. One piece on each side . It molds itself to the contour of
the back of the grill if you tuck it in on top and bottom of the grill
ribs.To help hold it in place
I took the black strand out of some telephone line wire and X 'ed it
across each side against the screening. You may have to drill some small
holes in the little flat flanges on the back of the grill in order to
lace the wire through.Works good, looks good, and does the job. HTH
