They all need a lot of work all the time. Not many 40+yo vehicles don't need something.
The advice we always like to give is, get her safe to drive and then do your best to make her reliable. Then start enjoying what this coach can do for you.
If you take on major projects then, the value will be more apparent.

Welcome! Looking at your photo reminds me of a question I asked and still don't know the answer; is there a decent cover for these? Applied has one for $1000! but that seems crazy. Wonder if there's any other options?
I've had two covers for the past two years. This one seems to be holding up pretty well although the zippers aren't great.

I'm just going to go with a pre-fabbed metal carport. It's so easy to customize and get exactly what you want, and then I can get one large enough to cover the GMC Motorhome and the International Loadstar at the same time.
