GMC won't start

Dear Net:

Went to start my coach the other day after it had sat
for several months. Turned the key and just clicking,
put on jumpers and it turned over but didn't start,
hit boost switch and started first try. Drove it a few
miles and parked it. Has been hooked up to shore power
a couple of days. Went this morning to see if it would
start and nothing. No clicks, no radio, no cigarette
lighter - nothing. Same in boost or normal. Didn't try
jumping it but thought it should do something
particularly since hooked up to shore. Any ideas on
what's the deal?

All help/replies appreciated,

Keith, '73

in most cases connecting to shor power only charges the back battery,
not the engine battery. You can jump the solenoid so that both
batteries will charge, or get a converter that will charge two
batteries, or change the isolator to a combiner which will allow the
coach and front batteries to charge at the same time.
If you have the old converter and leave yourself connected to shore
power, you might be damaging your battery in the rear as it will keep
charging all the time and could overcharge. The battery in the front
does not get charged unless the engine is running in a normal mode.

[Admin note - "Bounced", non-member submission. Patrick]

Or you could use a combiner.... it will charge the engine battery with
out
additional wireing.

Keith,
Sounds like a classic case of poor battery terminal contact. Check
both ends of the engine battery connections.
