This is a bit late, just got back Saturday from GMCI Idaho rally.
Well,
I wouldn't recommend calling Eaton...this past Summer I called and ordered
their pump expecting the one discussed above. I got the pump with the small
cast impeller. When I called back, I was told - we haven't carried the pump
with the large impeller for years. If I wasn't satisfied, I could return the
pump for a refund. Since the pump cost $80 plus $17 for UPS shipping and I'd
have another $17 return shipping fee on top of that, I dropped it. Still
have the pump in its shipping box. Bought Caspro's pump at the Forest City
rally. Really ticked that I was not told about the small pump since I
mentioned the GMCMH article when I ordered it.

Arch sometimes we cant see the forest for the trees. Is the size and
construction of the waterpump really important. I dont think so.

I would not hesitate to put a regular Toronado water pump on my GMC. The
difference is in the radiator. Weld up and seal off your exhaust crossovers
in the heads and dont worry anymore.

More dragons to slay ahead

Arch,
Sometimes I feel like I don't want to admit to owning a GMC!

Hi Arch,

I had the smaller stamped steel pump before replace. And my temps I believe
would have been fine(was ok, never boiled-over @75+mph in cool weather of
115degs.) if my cooling system was clean and clear!! I believe thats the
biggest thing!!! But might think alittle more if towing bigger toads!! Altho
P.O. pulled a Dat-soon truck with a camper shell all the time with no
problems with the old pump.
