GMC sighting

Hi Larry

Did not get your messages until we got home tonight so did not get a
chance to pass on your greetings. You will just need to make it to the
next rally. We however will not see you there because we will either be
in Arizona or on our way to Florida.

Modernization... If people that bought a GMC wanted a "newer looking" coach,
why didn't they just buy one. Personally, I bought a GMC... period. It has
classic good looks, that should NEVER be tampered with! Not even painting
the grille and headlight surrounds flat black.
Would any of you put a late-model front-end on a split window Stingray, or
put tail fins on an original 427 AC Cobra? It destroys the classic beauty.
That's my attitude, and I'm stickin' by it. Michael

That $65,000 price tag was a big reason. The GMC was on tenth of
that...

...at first.

I think the classic design of the GMC can be improved with new materials, paints, and more modern hardware, such as inverters and chargers to replace the buzz box, not to mention updating the running gear like wheels, tires, brakes, A/C, engine rebuilds, fuel injection, ... the list is endless.

I am a great fan of the original design, but some of the technology of the '70s is very dated and screaming out for replacement.

I like custom cars that take the original design and extend it in innovative ways. If I had to keep my coach in original condition, I would not have bothered with it at all.

Hi Martin, I guess I do about 10 to 15% amalgams still. Some people prefer
them, and the ADA, CDC, OSHA, and everyone else that I can think of, still
feel they are a good, solid restoration, and are a good value for certain
segments of the population.
I would much prefer filling it with silver than taking it out.
