Hello,
I would be interested in receiving input regarding road side (towing)
insurance. What is the best company out there? Will they tow to a GMC
service center? Do you have to pay upfront and then look to the company for
$? If I am driving down I-75 and have a break down in Ky., for example,
where will they pay to have it towed back to Michigan where I live?
Thanks

Both Good Sam and FMCA have very good road service. FMCA will now cover
the GMC motorhome whereas in the past they did not. If your a member
of one of the many GMC Clubs or GMC international your are probably
already a FMCA member. If your not a member of a GMC Club you are
missing a great opportunity to learn from other GMC'ers Good Sam Runs
aprox $80 per year and FMCA is about the same.

I have had occasion to use Good Sam and Camping World. They both use the
same dispatch service and both have been great. You only have to sign.

Important features to have:

Make sure the service will cover all your vehicles
Make sure the agreement reads "Towing to the nearest qualified service
shop"
(by my definition this is a GMC oriented enterprise)
Make sure the service includes lock out coverage (I lock myself out of my
Saturn once a week)
Make sure it is sign and drive.
Make sure they cover vehicles of our vintage
Make sure they will bring fuel if you run out.

I may try FMCA's service as I understand they will send a mechanic with
tools for minor breakdowns.
