Hi Dave!

Nice to see you back! I have been waiting on you to ask a question(s) that has come up
before on this net:
Most gmc sites quote that the GMC still has some 8000-9000 units in registry (not your
registry, I understand...), but where did that figure come from? How many coachs are
currently in your registry? And given the number of coachs in your registry, is that
8000-9000 estimate even reasonable?
I know you can't give a definitive answer on this, but an opinion or estimate would do...^_^

Hello Houston!

Nice to hear from you Anneke...

The number of 8,000 coaches has been bandies about for a long time and it
is one of the several reasons I started the Registry. I don't think
anyone has any real way of knowing regardless of their claims. There are
many GMCs used in commercial and municipal applications who don't obtain
their parts and maintenance thru the usual RV channels so it is hard to
say. Also, there are many do-it-yourselfers out there who don't want to
belong to a club if they are even aware of one.

So,having said all that I can only tell you what I have in the Registry
and how it could be extrapolated to a number. For example there were 132
Edgemonts built and I have 60 of them in the Registry; 45%. On the other
hand of the 2,190 26' Transmodes made I have 604 or 27.5% and of the
2,247 Eleganzas produced the Registry shows 783 or 35%.

Anyway, the only number I can vouch for is the 4,000 GMCs in the Registry
at this moment. It is possible I have snagged 1/3 to 1/2 of those
produced, so far. Keep in mind that the Registry numbers includes
destroyed coaches as well.

With help from guys like Arch, Manny, Richard Waters (who all welcomed me
back) and Glenn Plymate, The Great TZE Hunter, and all the other folks
who are motivated, for whatever reason (Glenn thinks he is getting one of
Mack's new instrument panels), the Registry will one day be able to
answer the question as to how many. The GMCnet has been an enormous help
as I couldn't afford to use regular mail or phone. I am indeed grateful
to you all.

Many, many thanks!

"What we need here is a bar code sticker with the pertinent data for the
Registry, on every GMC and the ability to read it at 70 mph!"

How about - Create a web page that would print out on a single
8 1/2 X 11 page (a flyer)

This flyer would advise the owner of:
1) - The registry, and;
2) - GMC International
3) - GMC net

In addition it would provide a form for the owner to used (should they be=

willing) to respond to the registry with the necessary information.

I would certainly be willing to print out a few to carry with me.

It would allow us to communicate with those who are not at their coach.

Might do some good.
