Gene...
finally made it back down to Dallas..
The first coach I saw ther was unreachable again because the PO had passed away and his son was taking care of it. He placed it on a lot for consignment and came back and retrieved it for 'maintenance'. They wouldn't give me his info for obvious reasons..

Dave,

With all the money saved by GMCers' help, I am sending my
contribution to you for the replacement computer.

One thing crossed my mind though. We all know that Black List works
well. Is that possible to use the Registry for emergency help? I mean when
we are in need on road, is that possible to give you the zip code or area code
and get some local GMC owner's name since they know where to get help locally.
I know there is privacy concern and some owners may not like get calls
from strangers... Anyway, maybe you can add one more question when collecting
information: Are you willing to help other GMCer on emergency basis?

My 2 cents.

"information: Are you willing to help other GMCer on emergency basis?"

If your answer is YES! Then the Black List is waiting for you. It's
already in place and I think it's proven itself over the last year for those
who have needed it and used it. AND it's available 24 hours a day from
anyone's computer.

ALWAYS room for one more name.{:>)

Thanks James...It will be put to good use. And you are right! The GMCnet
is the best thing that could have happened for GMCrs. If we had a Net
back in the 70s I KNOW that the GM mechanics would be monitoring the Net
'cause they didn't know a whole lot back then.

I doubt that most GMCrs mind getting a call from another owner, even if
they aren't in trouble but since I don't keep phone numbers (only area
codes for sorting purposes) the Registry may not be a lot of help. I
would say that if anyone calls me I will try to steer them to a nearby
owner but I personally carry the Black List and the GMC International
Roster which has some 2,200 owners listed with telephone numbers.

If I need help and there is no one on the Black List (Roger has become
famous, hasn't he?) then I go to the GMC MI roster. What is nice about
the Int'l roster is that it has a listing by state, then city then owners
within the city, so it is perfect for finding an owner or owners in a
large city.

For the most part carrying the Black List and Int'l Roster is (for me)
like carrying an umbrella. It never rains when I carry an umbrella and as
long as those two rosters travel with me I haven't had, but once, to call
someone for advice on who is the best qualified mechanic in town.

Thanks, Justin, I hear all that one hand clapping.{:>) I can't offer any
expertise on the GMC, the Infamous Black List is but a small part to offer
you GMC'ers.

Now, folks in Florida and along the way from Mobile to Winter Park. I'm
getting an itinerary set up to arrive in Winter Park on the morn of Feb
14th. Have to stop in Foley for the wife to shop. Will be in and around
Orlando through the 17th +++more days possibly. Find me a 23' that I can
bring home.{:>) Of course, Jim's GMC place will definitely be on the list
of exciting things to visit.

James,
If you are a member of GMCMI, you have a membership roster that gives you
about 2,000 owners listed by city and state. It's a great security blanket
to carry in your motor home and you will always find someone close by that
will be glad to help out.

Hi Roger,

I called Alex Sirum and he says they are hard to find. (Need I tell you?)
But call him while you are at COOP Motors, they are very friendly
competitors, and see what he may have dug up. (I use those last two words
in jest!)

Dave,
Don't know that it is in jest. The one at the junk yard out of Ft Smith is
probably under a foot or more of snow right now. {:>)
