The symptom describe is a classic symptom for a blown/open "Instrument
Fuse" behind the Glove Box. The dash instruments & the outside running
lites (tail lite, parking lites, clearance lites & inside Dome lites) are
all on the same circuit identified as "Instrument/gauge/tail/dome" with a
20 amp fuse. The classic failure for this circuit is water in one or
more of the outside lites. The water causes a current path to ground
which intern overloads the circuit fuse. If this occurs, time may dry
out the lite & the short is removed until it gets wet again.
If more than your dash lites are out, then first suspect is the 20 amp
fuse (don't depend upon visual inspection of a fuse...probe both ends of
the fuse/holder to verify 12v DC is present). Then it's time to find the
water leak.
