GMC Kohler Generator Set

My recently purchased 76 Royale has a Kohler generator set, apparently
original equipment. 6500 watts, weighs 477 lbs. Runs ok. less than 600
hrs. Anyone have any experience or comments?

Jerry,
It should have the number 6000 on the front of the gen. set. If you
take care of them they will last a long time. 600 Hours is hardly any
hours at all. Mine 77 has only 490 hrs. I have heard of many GMC that
have many thousands of hours of service. Some GMC are replacing there
old failed unit with the Generac 5500 KW unit. It weights about 220
pounds and is a good replacement if you need it.

The Kohler Generator set is in a transmode - Royale. It has several
upgrades. Has Electro Level with Dana compressor. I read that original
GMCs had only one waste water tank, but mine has two, I assume black &
grey, with a three way rocker switch which indicates water level.

my 78 Birchaven has two holding tanks also but has Onan generator - I
still havent fiqured out how the two tanks interconnect - when I tried
to dump both of them one tank dumped on the ground rather than through
the hose - luckily i was on a concrete area that sloped into the septic
line - thanks to Tulsa fairgrounds for providing a nice dump and Rv
facility - $12 per night for all hookups - good place to pull into for a
quick overnight rest - about 3 miles from I-44 - if no one is on duty I
was told to just pull in and hook up - and I was told if I needed to
come in late and leave early 'no problem - no charge courtesy of the
Tulsa fairgrounds'
