I have been with the mailing list a short time now and find it very
stimulating and informative. Have not really seen any questions or
replies concerning Insurance coverage. I know insurance cost vary from
state to state and city to city but I was curious if I have the best
that I can have or if maybe I should look around. I have a 76 PB pretty
much all original. My insurance company is American Family (main office
located in Wisconsin) American Family also has my car and home
insurance. I have full replacement value (what ever that may be
considering I have seen 76 PB from $7,000 to $40,000) and pay $370 a
year. Would I do better with a different insurer???

Thanks

Tommy, your best bet isto check with RV Alliance. They advertise in FMCA
magazine and Brock Benn, their VP has a good article in GMC MM magazine.

If you are not getting these periodicals you are missing out on a lot of
useful info. Let me know if you need more info about RV Alliance. I have
used them since 1975 and they never let me down!

Tommy, I suspect Patrick (who is an old hand in the insurance business) will
weigh in on this, but there is something called "mutually agreed value"
which can be negotiated between the insured and the insuror. Once a higher
fair value is agreed to, the premium is adjusted to reflect that elevated
value. Some of us have a lot more than the book into these things. Too bad
there's no way to insure the sweat equity and love and affection.

Well.... auto is not my strong suit, but I do know enough to call an
expert when I need one. Go with Dave's suggestion, RVAlliance. When
shopping, don't confuse "replacement" coverage with "agreed value",
there's a pretty big difference. With "replacement", the company has
the option of finding you another twenty-something-year-old coach. Also
be careful of some "stated value" policies. The "agreed value" form
will likely require an appraissal every few years as documentation.

RV alliance rep told me that they will not insure if the appraised value is
below 20k, FWIW
