Arch,

One BIG reason for our moving out of inner-loop Houston was the $100.00
ticket issued to us for parking the GMC in the driveway while Tom was
changing out the wheels (for Alcoas) last year.
Found out that in addition to not being allowed to park non-yuppy vehicles
in your own driveway more than a couple of days at a time (which we knew),
there is also a rule against working on your vehicles...period! I can
understand that over-hauling an engine might be objectionable to the
neighbors, but I wouldn't think changing out a tire would be a big deal!

T'wasn't our direct neighbors that complained (they're nice folks), but a
self-appointed a** who rides his bike through the subdivision looking for
violations to ordinances and reporting them. The police are then obligated
to go out and enforce the "law". The officer who wrote our violation ticket
even apologised and allowed that this was not what he envisioned his job to
be!
BTW, Tom went to court, talked to the Judge, and got the ticket dismissed.
But he did have to put on the old wheels willy-nilly and move the coach
before finishing his work.

It'll be nice to be able to park the GMC on our own land. One thing that, as
urban dwellers, we will have to contend with in the county is the bugs!
Never seen such a variety: flying, crawling, slinking, hopping...Just hope
they stay out of the GMC!
