GMC ham radio operators

someone asked me earlier if I knew any other GMC owners who are hams - I
deleted the message after responding to him - so this has to go to the
group instead

I am listening to several GMC owners right now (1100 UTC) on 3945 - they
are '4s' and '5s' and appear to be in the southeast US area

also there is an RV net around 7240+- area most mornings that may have a
few

Ed,
Here's a belated thank you from the guys in Nam, myself included. You
guys/gals provided a great service on connecting us. We had an HF in a Huey
and we would load up everyone and hit the skies, up to about 10 thou around
midnight there and call the states. Did this several times till the CO
figured out what we were doing and grounded that aircraft. It sure was
better than trying to get "Hello, Saigon" on the land lines.

As for GMC content, GMC'ers just seem to stand above the rest with their
endless help. OK, Patrick?

I'm somewhat amazed that the incidence of hams in the GMC net is so high;
seems to be much higher than in the general population. What is the
commonality? I've been a ham since age 11, though not very active these
days. And I favor CW...inquiring minds want to know.

been into electronics since teen - first call WN0NWT while in college -
second call WA0REE gotten in college when first call expired in a year

got advanced license year and half ago without prior study

operate 99% CW - the other 1% is mobile SSB from my GMC - most of my
mobile operation is CW while parked

am also into QRP

rigs are Heath HW-5400, HW-8, Tentec Argonaut and Argonaut II, Kenwood
TS-130 (mobile) - mobile ant is a screwdriver (works great on front
bumper of GMC) - only thing special about mobile installation is I use
an MFJ tuner as well as tuning the antenna
