I agree that it may have been a little presumptuous for Tom to jump
into the middle of the dispute. But he did and apparently some
dialing has started. I hope Kara doesn't mind.

I don't want to run Golby out of business either, but if there are
problems there, their management should be made aware of them so
that they can take corrective action. They also should be aware that
we (the GMCnet) are watching what is happening here. All of a sudden
Kara Kosier has a lot of clout to get the situation rectified one way
or another.

By the way I bought some door latches from Golby last year. I thought
they were pretty expensive at $25 each. But the kicker was the $10.49
shipping and handling that they charged me for UPS ground service. For
less then a pound of parts I thought that was a little much. But they
had the part I needed and so it was worth it. But all this time I've felt
like I got gouged a little.

Also there was a problem with the latches. I had almost forgotten until I looked
at
my data base for Golby. Here are my computer notes on that:
11-09-98 NOTES (MONDAY 12:32 PM) received the door latches...
Cost: $25.00 x2, plus $10.49 Shipping! They could have mailed
them!!
11-10-98 NOTES (TUESDAY 8:10 AM) had problems getting the latches apart
..couldn't get the knobs off...
11-10-98 CALL-IN (TUESDAY 9:18 AM) talked to Tom about the problem...and
he insists that they unscrew...so we shall see
11-10-98 NOTES (TUESDAY 10:39 AM) found that I could get them apart ...but
had to use vice grips...turns out they were locktighted on...so
someone
screwed up...I messed up both latches by using vice grips.
11-10-98 CALL-IN (TUESDAY 10:50 AM) Called and Let Tom know about the
lock tite..Kind of sucks when you pay good money and you have
to
almost destroy the part to get it to work!!! Tom didn't seem too
concerned
about the lock tite.

So I am kind of interested in their response.

Lets see how this plays out shall we.

I think a good rule of thumb and my personal rule is when I get poor service
from anyone and am dissatisfied I go to the top of the food chain
immediately. If they do not listen or do not give me satisfaction than I
would not hesitate to do what Kara did.

Tom,
Go to the top, that is usually what I do. In this case however I merely
made a mental note to just not do business with Golby if I
could help it. I figured there were other places to buy my GMC
stuff like Cinnabar and Buskrik's right here in Michigan. Also,
as I recall back in November I was involved with a big system
installation and was a bit cramped for time. I just didn't want to
mess with the time it would take to make a stronger complaint.

I also had never heard of the GMC net and therefore thought
I was all alone. Now that I'm aboard the GMCnet I won't hesitate
to report when I get treated badly. I'll also go out of my way to say
when I get good service. So far I've been treated wonderfully by
Jim Bounds, Max at Buskrik's and Ivan at Cinnabar.

We just all need to make sure we get our facts right and don't rely
on rumors. If a business is going to be hurt by the internet, lets be
sure that we have out facts right before we send them out for the
world to see.

More then my 2 cents worth
