Phil-
Iwould suggest that you do a careful check of all your gas lines from
tanks to carb. You likely will need to remove your left wheel well
insert to see the gas lines in behind it on the fire wall. There may be
leakage or weeping any where there are joins or where there are rubber
lines. Also after stopping ,with the heat in the engine and with
vaporization, and boiling of the gas in the carb, and with having old
carbs and vehicles there may be fumes that come up into the drivers area
that you are smelling for the first little while.Right after stopping,
pull the air cleaner off and be sure there is no leakage around the carb
area. The smell may be a minor irratation and pretty minor, or it could
be real dangerous. Check it out.
