I wanted to replace my burned out hot water heater element with an Inconel
element which are advertised as less likely to burn out.

The only Inconel elements I found were 240 volt 4500 watt elements, so I
measured the resistance of one of those and found it was 12.6 ohms.

Ohm's law says it will produce 1150 watts when operating on 120 volts in my
GMC.

The reduced output is due to the input voltage being one half the 240 volts
at which it is rated.

I pass this along FWIW, but you can guess which element I am using in my
GMC.
